Much talked about lately, millennials – people born in the 1980’s and 1990’s, also known as Generation Y – are a generation completely different from the ones before them. A constantly changing world, globalized and totally interconnected, has shaped this generation and its manner of dealing with life. Because of this, millennials are perfect for a world with more and more mobility.
Differently from the generations before them, this generation grew up in a world where technology evolves quickly and is becoming more essential every day. Therefore, they feel more comfortable in using everything that technology can offer, utilizing it in every aspect of their lives. And making good use of some technological resources, such as modern communication tools, may be the key point for success in the relocation process, by improving the communication between the expatriate and his/her company in its original location.
Millenials also create fewer ties, be they to people or places, making a possible change of city or country less painful. After all, the less attached one is to a place or the people who live there, the less painful it is to move away. It is important to note that this lack of ties to a certain place is often due to economic factors. We live in a time when real estate is becoming more and more expensive, and there is no perspective of change in this respect. Therefore, fewer people are homeowners, which makes it easier to accept a possible move, and makes the process easier.

The individuals of this generation tend to value these experiences, regardless of financial gains, such as a raise in salary or a bonus.
More flexible and with a more adventurous point of view, millennials adapt to new market tendencies. Thus, they form a group that is more open to doing new work in new places, which makes for a perfect union between them and global mobility.
