Challenges are a natural part of our lives, and they exist to be overcome. They may appear in several situations, including important experiences. We all can, and should, overcome them in order to be successful.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Living in a foreign country is one of these important experiences permeated by challenges. And, even though everyone is capable of overcoming them, there are some characteristics that may make an individual an ideal expat. Having these traits makes the obstacles easier to overcome.<\/span><\/p>\n Being open to novelty and differences may be an interesting advantage, since, by living abroad, the expat will face many things he isn\u2019t used to. He\u2019ll meet new people and live in a culture different from his own, and he\u2019ll have to get used to another type of gastronomy, which is of huge importance to a great many people and is responsible for many cases of non-adaptation to a new country, especially if the culture is too different from the expat\u2019s original one. Therefore, he will adapt more easily if he is open to novelty.<\/span><\/p>\n The ability to remain calm in adverse situations, be they large or small scale, may determine the development of the expat\u2019s experience. Being independent is another desirable trait in this type of undertaking. After all, there won\u2019t be many people available to offer him help or support, especially at the beginning, when the expat has few acquaintances and must solve problems on his own.<\/span><\/p>\n However, we must remember that there is no \u201cmagic\u201d formula to improve expatriation. People with all kinds of traits can be successful if they persevere and don\u2019t give up.
