Quando se ouve falar em viagem, Europa ou, até mais especificamente, na França, qual a primeira coisa que vem à cabeça? Paris seria a resposta que prevaleceria nessa simples associação de palavras. No entanto, por mais charmosa que seja a Cidade Luz, o solo francês guarda muitos outros atrativos, como a bela ilha Monte Saint-Michel. Localizada na foz do Rio Couesnon, na Mancha, a rochosa ilha recebeu o curioso nome por conta de uma abadia é um santuário, homônimos. De incríveis paisagens, o vilarejo medieval atrai, diariamente, milhares de visitantes que buscam a famigerada Abadia, localizada no topo do Monte, ou o imperdível fenômeno da maré, a maior de toda a Europa. Fácil de se apaixonar e difícil de se locomover: por preservar os traços seculares, a ilha não é acessível a todos os tipos de locomoção, exigindo preparo físico e calçados confortáveis que compensam a vista. O Monte Saint-Michel

Aberto 24h, o Monte Saint-Michel tem entrada gratuita e o visitante decide desembolsar, ou não, apenas 9 euros para a entrada na Abadia, que tem horário de entrada e saída. A principal dica é alugar um quarto no próprio Monte ou nos arredores, assim, é possível vivenciar o local, principalmente à noite, quando os demais turistas vão embora e tudo fica mais calmo. Entre julho e agosto, inclusive, é possível visitar a Abadia, principal atração, até às 23h. O local, que deu origem a todo o vilarejo, conta com nada menos que 22 salões, com características arquitetônicas diferentes em cada um deles.

A famosa maré de Saint-Michel

Com uma incrível diferença de 15 metros entre a maré mais baixa e a mais alta, a baía é um espetáculo à parte, em seus 500 Km² de extensão, ao redor do Monte Saint-Michel. O fenômeno natural, que acontece em todos os meses do ano, ocorre em 50 dias específicos, que devem ser consultados na tábua de marés, antes do planejamento da viagem.

O que comer no Monte Saint Michel

A Grande Rue concentra os principais restaurantes do vilarejo. Lá, há duas especialidades: a comida tradicional normanda e os típicos pratos franceses. O omelete é quase onipresente, principalmente o Omelette de la Mère Poulard, feito com ovos extremamente batidos até formarem uma “nuvem”. No entanto, o destaque é mesmo a rara carne Agneu de pré-salé ou, em bom português, cordeiro pré-salgado, que dificilmente é exportado e serve para consumo local.

However, no matter how charming the City of Lights may be, France holds many other attractions, such as the lovely Island Mont Saint-Michel. Located at the mouth of the Couestron River, in the English Channel, the rocky island got its curious name from a sanctuary abbey of the same name located at the top of the mount. With incredible landscapes, the medieval village daily attracts thousands of visitors who seek the famous Abbey and the unmissable phenomenon of the tide, the highest in all of Europe. The island is easy to love, but hard to get around in: since it preserves its centenary traits, it isn’t accessible to every form of locomotion, requiring physical preparation and comfortable shoes, but the views are well worth it. Another tip for dressing is raincoats, for the region is quite rainy.

Mont Saint-Michel

Open 24 hours, Mont Saint-Michel has free admission, and visitors can decide whether or not to pay only 9 euros for entrance to the abbey, which has schedules for entry and exit. The main tip is to rent a room on the Mont itself, or in its environs, making it possible to experience the place, especially at night, when most of the tourists leave and it is quieter. Between July and August, moreover, it’s possible to visit the Abbey, the island’s main attraction, until 11p.m. The Abbey, which gave rise to the whole village, has no fewer than 22 halls, each with different architectural characteristics.

The famous Saint-Michel tide
