In the globalized world in which we live, everything is interlinked and in constant evolution. The work market is a branch that is extremely affected by globalization, which demands from the professional new and different qualities.

In this context, we have what is called economic globalization, which is the increasing integration and interdependence of national, regional, and local economies all over the world through the intensification of the cross-border movement of goods, services, people, technologies and capital. This factor changes how big companies act and do business. Workers have had to adapt to this, and a new type of employee has emerged.

This new type appeared due to the need of the world’s big companies for employees that are adaptable, and even like to be relocated to different parts of the world. Therefore, the “global professional”, as he is called, should present some essential characteristics.

The first one is to speak more than one language, English being the main one, but it is best that the worker is not limited just to English. The more languages spoken, the more attractive he will be to the companies.  Another  aspect that must be considered is the individual’s social skills, either to communicate or to establish relationships with others. These skills will play an important role not only in the social ambiance, but also in the professional one.

Furthermore, the worker in question must be open to novelty. New cultures, new experiences, and new ways of working are only a few examples of what can be a novelty in his new ambiance. Being prepared and open to novelty can make the experience of working outside his native country even better and more productive.
